Sky Sports Content On NowSignage: Key Considerations

Is Sky Sports content licensed for use in NowSignage?

No. Sky Sports content is protected by copyright and broadcast rights that are owned and controlled by the broadcaster and its rights holders.

These rights determine:

  • Where the content can be shown

  • How it can be distributed

  • Which platforms are permitted to display it

NowSignage does not have a commercial agreement with Sky Sports that allows redistribution of their live channels or recorded content. Displaying Sky Sports within a digital signage platform would typically fall outside of the permitted usage defined in standard Sky subscription agreements.

Why can NowSignage display other live feeds but not Sky Sports?

Does having a Sky Sports subscription allow use in NowSignage?

Even where a business has a commercial Sky subscription, this does not provide the technical specifics required to embed the feed into NowSignage.

Are there any technical limitations as well?

Yes. In addition to licensing restrictions, broadcast streaming platforms such as Sky Sports are designed to work within their own approved apps, devices, and playback environments.

This means:

  • Sky Sports streams are not provided in a format that can be embedded into NowSignage

  • Attempting to display them via web views or screen capture methods is unreliable and typically blocked by Sky

What are the recommended alternatives?

If your use case is to display live sports related information on screen, you can consider:

  • Live scores and fixtures from licensed data providers
