NowSignage CMS Updates: July 2026
Release Notes: New Monitoring & Remote Device Management (RDM) functionality
We’re excited to introduce a major update to the CMS Monitoring experience, bringing powerful new tools to help you monitor your screen estate, identify issues faster, and gain better visibility into your devices all from the Screens dashboard.
This release enhances the Monitoring experience with advanced filtering and richer device information to help you manage your deployment more efficiently.
The release also introduces new sub-permissions for monitoring and RDM, along with powerful new monitoring tools directly in the Screens dashboard.
New Features:
-
Granular sub-permissions for Monitoring & RDM
Monitoring access is now split into three independently configurable sub-permissions:
-
- Analytics — view analytics and data
- Remote Device Management (RDM) — manage devices and send actions
- Audit Logs — view audit logs
Each of these can be set separately for Project Wide Monitoring (not restricted by access tags) and Screen Level Monitoring (restricted by access tags), and set to Editor, Viewer, or no access.
Default roles are being updated as follows:
- Owners — full access to all monitoring (project-wide and Screen Level)
- Project Managers — Screen-level monitoring only
- Custom roles — any combination of the above, as granular as required
If a role has no access to a given area, that tab is hidden entirely from that part of the CMS.
-
New quick filters
It is now possible to filter the Screens table without duplicating effort across folders.
-
- New quick filter dropdowns for Licence type, Licence Status, App Version, OS, and Device
- Multiple values can be selected within a filter, and multiple filters combined at once
- This is a global search across all screens the user has access to, including those inside folders
-
New filterable columns in the Screens table
-
- New optional columns: Hardware, App Version, Brand, OS
- Enabling a column makes it filterable directly in the table
- All of this data is included in the export screens to CSV feature

Overview of the New Remote Device Management Dashboard
As part of this release, Remote Device Management (RDM) has been significantly enhanced, with a refreshed interface and a broader set of supported commands available across the major supported operating systems. This update makes it easier for teams to manage devices remotely at scale, while improving visibility, control, and day-to-day operational efficiency.
The Remote Device Management area of the NowSignage dashboard gives users a central place to monitor device activity, issue remote actions, and keep screen deployments running smoothly without needing to be on site. Whether you are supporting a small rollout or a large multi-location screen estate, RDM is designed to help reduce manual intervention, speed up troubleshooting, and improve response times when action is needed.
By bringing device control and status monitoring into one streamlined interface, the updated RDM experience helps teams take quicker action, maintain greater consistency across devices, and stay informed through clearer command tracking and status visibility.
Within this interface (device-dependent), you can:
- Reboot a device
- Update to the latest NowSignage application
- Capture screenshots
- Set On/Off timers
- Adjust Volume and screen brightness
- Monitor command logs and statuses
