Installing NowSignage on Philips Q-Line SoC Displays

 

To install NowSignage on Philips Q-Line SoC Displays, you will require the following;

  • Remote control
  • Connection to either a wired or wireless network
  • USB external storage device containing the NowSignage APK

Install Steps:

Step 1: Download our APK from: https://cdn.nowsignage.com/android/latest.apk


Step 2: Drag the APK onto a USB Drive.

Step 3: Insert the USB Drive into the USB port of the Philips Display.

Step 4: On the Display, quickly press Home, 1, 8, 8, 8 to access the Admin Menu.

Step 5: Within the Admin Menu, click into 'Apps' then 'File Manager'.

Step 6: Open the 'mnt' folder, then open the 'usb_storage' folder. Now scroll down and open the 'NowSignage.apk' file.

Step 7: Click 'install' then 'open', this will automatically launch the NowSignage App.

Step 8: Enter in your unique screen PIN (found within your NowSignage account dashboard) and activate your screen.


 

Configure Date & Time Settings:

Prior to launching up the app, please ensure that the Android timezone is configured correctly on the player:

  • Within the admin mode click into to settings
  • Go to Date and Time settings
  • Check that the correct timezone is set
  • Press the Home button on the remote
  • Navigate to Advanced Configuration
  • Select Date and Time
  • Check that the correct timezone is set

 

NowSignage App Troubleshooting

 

Issue: 'ENCOUNTERED AND UNKNOWN ERROR COMMUNICATING WITH NOWSIGNAGE'

 

Possible Causes: (in order of relevance)

1. There is no internet or network connection to the device.

2. Date/time is incorrectly set on the device.

3. The app could not communicate with the NowSignage API.

4. The PIN code is not associated with a Screen

 

Solutions:

1. Ensure the device has a working internet connection, use the device's web browser or other internet-based apps to confirm connectivity.

2. Go into the date/time settings and set it to the current correct date/time.

3. Ensure the requests are not being blocked by a corporate firewall. Please see our firewall rules guidance.

4. Ensure the correct PIN code has been added by verifying within the NowSignage platform. (check for additional character spaces entered in error)
