Checking the status of your screen

Once your screen is connected, you can be confident that the NowSignage platform will offer continuous visibility and real-time updates on the operational status of all your screens.

When on your NowSignage screens dashboard within your project you will see an overview of the total number of screens you have as well as live status of each of those screens. When any new screen is added and the PIN subsequently entered into a live screen, your NowSignage account will automatically connect and communicate with the NowSignage App to monitor its performance and provide live status updates.

Note: The NowSignage platform communicates with your device every five minutes, meaning that the timestamp you see when hovering over the status reflects the most recent communication time.

There are five status indicators:

  • Screens - The first indicator on the left displays the total number of screens in your account, irrespective of their current operational status.
  • Online (Green) - The screen is live, has power and the internet connection is good and the NowSignage app is currently running on your screen.
  • Intermittent (Amber) - The screens internet connection is poor dropping in and out of your network. If not rectified the screen will likely drop into Offline mode.
  • Offline (Red) - This means the hardware has either lost internet connectivity or lost power/switched off. If your screen has power it may be playing in offline mode. Also if the NowSignage app has been exited on the device, it will also show a offline status.

Offline mode is when your screen has lost its Internet connection but it will continue to play cached content stored on the device from when the pin was initially entered. When a screen is in offline mode it will receive no content updates as it will be unable to download new scheduled content. You can identify when your screen has entered offline mode by observing a small grey Wi-Fi icon in the bottom right corner of the display. This icon will remain visible until the hardware is successfully reconnected to your network.

  • Never Connected - This indicates that the screen is new and has not yet been activated or had a license applied. Additionally, a screen that is not connected or activated will not have a PIN assigned to it.
