Checking A Network Connection Using Mobile Hotspot

If you are experiencing difficulties accessing the NowSignage app, the issue may stem from your local network. To help identify whether the problem lies with your internet connection or firewall settings, you can conduct a test by connecting through your mobile phone's data hotspot.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Turn Off Wi-Fi on Your Computer/Device

•Disable your current Wi-Fi connection to ensure you’re only using the mobile hotspot for testing.

2. Enable Hotspot on Your Mobile Phone

  • For Android:

1.Open Settings > Connections or Network & Internet.

2.Select Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.

3.Turn on Mobile Hotspot and note the Wi-Fi name and password displayed.

  • For iPhone:

1.Open Settings > Personal Hotspot.

2.Toggle Allow Others to Join to enable it.

3.Note down your Wi-Fi password.

3. Connect Your Computer/Device to the Hotspot

  • On your device, open the Wi-Fi settings and search for available networks.
  • Select your phone’s Wi-Fi network name and enter the password.

4. Test Access to the NowSignage App

  • Once connected to the hotspot, open the NowSignage app again and check if it loads.

5. Identify the Results

  • If the app works with the hotspot:
  • This suggests the problem is with your local Wi-Fi network or a security setting, like a firewall.
  • Continue to the steps below to check your firewall settings.

Checking Your Firewall Settings (If the app works with the hotspot but not your Wi-Fi)
