Renaming A Project

Project names are used across NowSignage to identify and organise deployments. It is important that naming is correct at the point of creation, as renaming should only be used in exceptional cases.

Before You Start

  • You must have access to the project within your account
  • You need appropriate permissions to edit project settings

How to Rename a Project

  1. Log in to your NowSignage account
  2. Navigate to Projects from the main menu
  3. Locate the project you want to rename
  4. Click into the project to open it
  5. Access the Project Settings (typically via the settings or options menu)
  6. Update the Project Name field with the new name
  7. Click Save to apply the changes

What Happens Next

  • The project name will update immediately across the platform
  • All associated screens, playlists, and content remain unchanged
  • Any users with access to the project will see the updated name

Best Practice

  • Use clear, consistent naming conventions (e.g. location + screen type)
  • Avoid duplicate or overly similar names to reduce confusion
  • If the project is part of a wider rollout, align naming with your deployment structure

Troubleshooting

I can’t edit the project name

  • Check your user permissions
  • Ensure you are in the correct project

The name hasn’t updated

  • Refresh your browser
  • Log out and back in if needed

Important: Project URL Does Not Change

Renaming a project will not update the project URL.

  • The URL is generated when the project is first created
  • It remains fixed, even if the project name is changed
  • Any bookmarks, integrations, or references using the original URL will continue to work

What this means:

  • The project name shown in the platform can differ from the URL
  • If naming consistency is critical (for example, for client-facing links), this should be considered before renaming
