Remotely control your hardware’s power settings and app updates
Remote Device Management (RDM) is a powerful feature offered by NowSignage. RDM enables users to efficiently control various aspects of supported hardware directly through the web platform. With this capability, users can remotely manage their digital signage devices without the need for physical access. This includes the ability to install updates and reboot your displays.
Compatible on:
- LG WebOS Signage 3.2 (and above)
- The latest NowSignage LG app to be installed via the CDN method (please see method 1 in the install guide below):

The RDM feature in NowSignage allows the following remote management functions for LG WebOS Signage displays:
1. Display Reboot
2. NowSignage app updates
Please note - If the RDM feature is not available in your account, please contact support@nowsignage.com and we will enable this.
To activate this feature, please follow the instructions outlined below:
1. Log into your NowSignage account, access your NowSignage project, click into 'Apps' on the left sidebar and then click into the 'Remote Device Management' app:
2. Within the RDM app, find the screen(s) you wish to send the RDM commands to (you can search for screens by name/location in this area or filter by status). Then click the '...' options button next to the screen to see the list of RDM commands you can send to the device:
Please note - Only the Reboot and App Update commands are available on LG WebOS Signage Devices.
3. Optional - You can also multi-select the screens by clicking into the boxes on the left next to the screens name and then you can click 'bulk actions' to send commands to multiple screens at once:
4. Within the RDM commands dropdown list, click on the command you wish to send then you will see a confirmation message containing the list of screens you are sending the command to. You can confirm this by clicking the command name. For example for the reboot command, you can confirm this by clicking the 'reboot' button to send the command:
5. Once the command is sent, you can view an audit trial of the RDM commands by clicking into the 'logs' area, this will show you a full list of all the commands sent and the status of the commands. The command will start as 'pending' and once it's been received/actioned, if you refresh the page, this should change the status to 'acknowledged':
- Acknowledged: Indicates that the screen has successfully received and processed the command you issued.
- Pending: Indicates that the command has not yet been received by the screen. This status may occur if the screen is currently offline, as commands will only be transmitted when the screen is online and connected to the network.
