Installing NowSignage for Samsung Tizen (Middle East (ME) Server)

Installing NowSignage application on Samsung Tizen displays

    This guide provides a complete walkthrough for installing, updating, and managing the NowSignage application on supported Samsung Tizen-based displays.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION: - This Installation guide is ONLY to be used for accounts hosted on the NowSignage Middle East (ME) platform.

    To confirm if your account is hosted on our ME platform. Please review the URL when you access your NowSignage account - For Middle East platform the URL will be -  https://secure.me-central-1.nowsignage.com/profiles

    This guide offers detailed instructions for installing the latest NowSignage application on Samsung Tizen devices:

      • Tizen 4 and 5 – (version 5.3.20)
      • Tizen 6.5 and 7 – (version 5.3.20)

    Supported Samsung Tizen Devices

    SSSPv6 (Tizen 4.0)

    • QBR-N, QBR, QMR, OHN-D, OMN-D, OHN, OMN, QEN, QBN, QMN

    SSSPv10 (Tizen 6.5)

    • QMB-T, QBB-N, QMB, QBB, QHB

    SSSPv10 (Tizen 7)

    • QMC, QHC, QBC 


    Before You Begin

    Ensure the following:

    • The screen is connected to power

    • The screen is connected to a stable network

    • You have the screen’s remote control

    If settings have already been changed, we suggest performing a factory system reset before installation (see FAQ section for instructions on this).

    Initial (Out of the box) Setup

    Start the first-time setup:

    1. Go to System > Start Setup.

    Follow the on-screen instructions:

    1. Select your language.

    2. Choose Display Orientation: Landscape or Portrait.

    3. Set Auto Power Off to Off.

    4. Select and connect to your network.

    5. For Play via, choose URL Launcher.

      ⚠️ ⚠️ Please ensure you select "URL Launcher" rather than the built-in web browser, as using the web browser to enter the NowSignage app URL will result in an error
    6. When asked for Connect to RM Server, select Skip.

    7. Set your date and time.


    Enter the NowSignage URL

    When prompted for a URL, enter:

    For Tizen 4 & 5

    Note: Tizen 6.5 & 7 require the H264 codec.

    Setting Date/Time via NTP (Recommended)

    To prevent time drift:

    On the remote, navigate to:

    Menu > System > Time > NTP Settings

    Configure:

    • Network Time Protocol: Use

    • Server URL: pool.ntp.org

    • Time Zone: select your region


    Launching NowSignage

    1. Press Smart Hub on the remote.

    2. Select the NowSignage app.

    3. Press OK.

    4. Enter your Screen PIN (found in your NowSignage dashboard).

    5. The screen will activate and load your assigned content.

    How To Update The NowSignage Application On Your Tizen Device

    1. Access the URL Launcher on the Tizen display (Press the Home button on the remote. Navigate to Apps → URL Launcher) (sometimes under Settings → All Settings → System → Play via → URL Launcher, depending on your Tizen version).

    2. Enter the URL Select Add URL or Launch URL. Type the NowSignage URL above.

    3. The screen will fetch the latest version of the NowSignage app from that URL. Once loaded, it will automatically run and display your content.

    Note: To upgrade the app on your device you will first need to uninstall the old app and once done, install the latest following the steps above.

    To uninstall the app, see below.

    1. Press Home on the remote.

    2. Open App Management.

    3. Select NowSignage.

    4. Choose Uninstall.

    Note - if you are using Tizen 7 make sure to change the source before installing (if this is not done, the option will be greyed out and unavailable) 

    Important: If updating from a previous version of NowSignage, you must uninstall the old version (Go to 'AppManagement', open the app options with the remote, and select Delete/Remove) before installing the new one. See the section below on how to update on your device.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

    1. How to Change Display Orientation (Portrait/Landscape)

    1. Press Home to exit NowSignage.

    2. Press Menu.

    3. Go to On-Screen Display > Display Orientation.

    4. Choose Landscape or Portrait.

    5. Select Yes to confirm.

    6. Press Home and launch the NowSignage app again.

    The app will rotate to match your new orientation.


    2. How to Set Automatic On/Off Times

    1. Press Home.

    2. Select On/Off Timer.

    3. Configure Off Timer for automatic shutdown.

    4. Configure On Timer for automatic startup.

    5. Set Source to URL Launcher (or Custom App on some models).

    If the NowSignage app has already been activated with its PIN, it will automatically launch based on the schedule.

    You can also configure this remotely using the RDM feature for Samsung Tizen.

    3. Installing NowSignage via USB (Tizen 4 & 6.5 Only)

    1. Insert a USB drive into your computer.

    2. Download:

      App file: https://cdn.nowsignage.com/tizen/NowSignage.wgt

      Config file: https://cdn.nowsignage.com/tizen/sssp_config.xml

      (Right-click > Save As)

    3. On the USB root, create a folder named: SSSP

    4. Copy both downloaded files into this folder.

    5. Insert the USB drive into the Samsung display.

    6. Press Home.

    7. Select URL Launcher (Settings) or App Management.

    8. Choose Install from USB device.

    9. Create a PIN if prompted.

    10. The app will install directly from the USB.


    4. How to Factory Reset a Samsung SSSP Display

    1. Turn the display on.

    2. Switch to an HDMI/DisplayPort source.

    3. Turn the display off and wait for the red IR light.

    4. On the remote, press in sequence:

      MUTE → 1 → 8 → 2 → POWER ON

    5. The service menu will appear.

    6. Navigate to Option > Factory Reset.

    7. The display will reboot.

    Note: If you cannot see the 'AppManagement' icon after the reboot but the 'MagicInfo' icon is visible, first exit the app by switching to any HDMI source. Then go to 'Settings' > 'All Settings' > 'System' > 'Play via' > 'Custom app'.


    5. How to Uninstall the NowSignage App

    1. Press Home on the remote.

    2. Open App Management.

    3. Select NowSignage.

    4. Choose Uninstall.

    Note: if you are using Tizen 7 make sure to change the source before installing (if this is not done, the option will be greyed out and unavailable)


    6. How to Perform a System Reset on a Tizen Screen:

    1. Press Menu on the remote.

    2. Select System.

    3. Choose Reset System.

    4. Press OK to confirm.
