How To Add A Layout To A Schedule

This article explains how to add a Layout to a Schedule in NowSignage, including how to configure the days and time window, add multiple timeslots, identify scheduling errors, and edit an existing scheduled Layout.

How To Add A Layout To A Schedule

Layouts allow you to display multiple playlists in different zones on a screen. Once you have created your Layout, it can be added to a Schedule to control when it is displayed.

Before you begin: You will need to have created both a Layout and a Schedule before following these steps.

Add a Layout to a Schedule

  1. From your NowSignage project, select Schedules from the left-hand menu.
  2. Select the Schedule you want to edit.
  3. Select + Add timeslot.
  4. Select the days you want the Layout to display.
  5. Set the From and To times using the Time window.
  6. Under Choose the content, select Layouts.
  7. Select the required Layout from the dropdown.
  8. Select Save.

Adding Multiple Layouts or Playlists

You can add additional timeslots to the same Schedule if you want different Layouts or Playlists to display at different times.

Select + Add timeslot and repeat the process for each additional timeslot.

For example, you could display a Layout during the day and switch to a standard Playlist in the evening.

Important

The new Schedule interface includes validation to help identify configuration errors.

If there is an overlapping timeslot, or a Playlist or Layout has not been assigned to a timeslot, a red error message will be displayed.

If you see an error, review the affected timeslot and correct the Schedule details before continuing.

Editing a Scheduled Layout

To change a Layout that has already been added:

  1. Open Schedules.
  2. Select the required Schedule.
  3. Select the Layout within the relevant timeslot.
  4. Make the required changes.
  5. Select Save.

Changes to the actual content or zones within the Layout should be made from the Layouts area rather than from the Schedule. NowSignage's Layout guidance confirms that individual playlists are assigned to the zones within the Layout itself.
