Accessing The NowSignage Web-Based Player

The NowSignage web-based player is our browser base build of the NowSignage application.

Web-Based Player Overview

The NowSignage web-based player allows you to launch playback in a supported web browser and connect it to a screen using a valid screen PIN. This can be a useful option for testing, temporary deployments, proof-of-concept setups, and hardware environments where browser-based playback is preferred.

The web-based player URL is available here:

https://play.nowsignage.com/

⚠️ It is supported on modern web browsers from 2016 onwards, including Chrome 60+.

The web-based player is based on our latest available app version.

How it works

To use the web-based player:

  1. Open https://play.nowsignage.com/
  2. Enter your screen PIN when prompted
  3. Once authenticated, the device will associate with that screen and begin playback as configured in your NowSignage account

⚠️ This follows the standard screen PIN authentication process used across supported player environments.

🔗 How to deactivate a PIN

Tip: Auto-enter PIN option

You can also launch the web-based player with the PIN included in the URL:

https://play.nowsignage.com/?pin=********

Replace the asterisks with the relevant screen PIN from your NowSignage account.

For example: https://play.nowsignage.com/?pin=12345678

Common uses for the web-based player

The web-based player is particularly useful in the following scenarios:

1. Rapid testing and troubleshooting

If you need to quickly confirm that a screen configuration, schedule, playlist, or content assignment is working as expected, the web-based player provides a fast way to validate playback without a full device deployment.

2. Temporary screen deployments

For pop-up locations, event spaces, short-term campaigns, or internal demonstrations, the web-based player can provide a convenient playback method where a supported browser is available.

3. Device evaluation and proof of concept

If you are assessing hardware suitability or testing NowSignage in a new environment, browser-based playback can help verify connectivity, content delivery, and general playback behaviour before a wider rollout.

4. Fallback playback option

In some environments, using a browser-based player can be a practical alternative while a dedicated device is being prepared, replaced, or reconfigured.

5. Internal reviews and stakeholder sign-off

Teams may use the web-based player to preview content output, confirm formatting, and review what will appear on screen before deploying to production devices.

⚠️ Important PIN behaviour

Standard PIN authentication behaviour applies to the web-based player.

Once a screen PIN has been entered and activated on a device, that PIN becomes associated with that device. If you want to move that screen PIN to another device, browser, or screen endpoint, the PIN must first be deactivated in your NowSignage account.

Summary

The NowSignage web-based player is a flexible way to launch screen playback from a supported browser. It is ideal for testing, temporary deployments, and browser-based playback scenarios.
