Whats The Difference Between 'Auto Renew' And 'Single Use' Licences?
Auto-Renew vs. Single-Use Licences
-
Single-use licence:
A single use licence is a fixed-term licence that will automatically expire when the defined licence term ends and will not continue beyond that date unless a new licence is applied.
For example, if you apply a “1 year single use licence”, the licence will remain active for 12 months from the date of activation and will then expire. At this point, content playback on any screens using that licence may stop, unless a new valid licence has been assigned.
-
Auto Renew Licence:
An auto-renew licence is a licence that is intended to renew at the end of each term.
For example, (monthly or annually), so that your screens remain continuously licensed without manual reactivation each time. This type of licence is commonly used for monthly rolling agreements, where you want uninterrupted access to the NowSignage platform.
Auto-renew licences will not renew automatically without prior confirmation. If renewal has not been confirmed by you or your supplier before the renewal date, the licence status will change to “expired”. Once expired, your screens may no longer display scheduled content until a new active licence is applied.
In both instances, you should be contacted by your licence supplier approximately 1 month prior to any expiry dates to confirm whether you would like to renew your licence, make changes to your licence type, or allow it to expire.
If you have any questions about renewals, changes to your licence type, or how expiry may impact your existing screens and content, please contact your supplier.
