Installing NowSignage For BrightSign (Middle East (ME) Server)
Installation guidance for installing the NowSignage app onto compatible BrightSign players

NowSignage works with a wide range of BrightSign devices and models. From June 2026, our updated installation process simplifies the initial app setup and automatically applies NowSignage updates as they are released.
NowSignage now uses a unified app across all BrightSign players. A single application package serves Series 3, 4, 5, and 6 players, automatically detecting the player series and applying the correct video playback settings and configurations for that hardware. This ensures every player runs the latest codebase regardless of series.
Compatibility:
NowSignage is compatible with the following BrightSign players:
- Series 3
- Series 4
- Series 5
- Series 6
⚠️ Support for Series 2 players is limited, and some app features may not be available. Please consult your NowSignage representative for more information.
For more information on BrightSign Media players, please see the information on the below link.
⚠️ Important information:
Before getting started, please review the below important information to ensure a successful application installation.
⚠️ SD Card Guidance:
- SD Card Guidance: Use SD cards with a minimum of 16GB to run NowSignage, as image and video content will download and cache locally. Choose an SD card with sufficient storage for your display content.
- Note: Most BrightSign media players do not have a built-in WiFi module; the device in this case must be connected to a network via Ethernet cable to connect to the internet.
Firmware Requirements:
⚠️ Each device must be updated to the latest available BrightSign firmware version for that player series to ensure full compatibility with the unified app:
- Series 3 — firmware 8.5.64 or later
- Series 4 — firmware 8.5.70 or later
- Series 5 & 6 — latest available firmware for the player series
⚠️ Supported Video Codecs:
The unified app automatically selects the correct video player implementation based on the detected series. The following codecs are supported per series:
- Series 6 — H264, VP9, H265
- Series 5 — H264, VP9, H265
- Series 4 — H264, VP9
- Series 3 — H264, VP9

Warning: Gapless Content Transitions
⚠️ Gapless Content Transitions — BrightSign Series 3 and Series 4 players do not support gapless content transitions. This limitation is due to the underlying hardware capabilities of these devices.
Series 5 and Series 6 players support this feature.
NowSignage App Installation Guide:
There are two supported methods for installing NowSignage on your compatible BrightSign player: manually loading the required files onto the SD card or using the BSN.cloud platform for a more streamlined, remote installation. Both options are outlined below.
-
Method 1 - SD Card (recommended) — Series 3, 4, 5, 6
Please note: When run, the NowSignage installer will remove any files from the SD card that are not required for the NowSignage application.
This is the new standardised process and is consistent across all Series 3, 4, 5, and 6 BrightSign installations.
Download the unified NowSignage installation .brs file from the URL below:
https://cdn.nowsignage.com/ap-southeast-1/brightsign/5.3.41/autorun.brs
Installation Steps:
- Add the .brs file to the ROOT of the SD card (no other files) or player. Copy the downloaded .brs file onto the SD card.
- Add the pin.txt file to the SD card (required, unless using serial number provisioning):
- For Windows: open Notepad — click the Start Menu and type "Notepad" in the Start Menu search box.
- For Mac OS: open TextEdit — press Command + Space and type "TextEdit". Once TextEdit opens, click "Format" on the menu bar and then click "Make Plain Text".
- Open a text editor on your computer:
- Enter the screen PIN found in your NowSignage account. Save the file as pin.txt.
- Transfer the pin.txt onto the SD card and insert the SD card into your BrightSign device.
- Reboot the player and wait for the app to install. The player will unpack and install the unified app automatically to load the PIN configuration. (This may take a short time).
- Optional: Add the config.json file to the SD card if you wish to amend any settings. (Guide here - https://knowledgebase.nowsignage.com/how-to-edit-brightsign-series-5-settings-using-configuration-url)
- Reboot the player to apply any config changes.
Once rebooted, the NowSignage app will launch and begin displaying your scheduled content.
⚠️ IMPORTANT:
- To ensure the integrity of your data, it is crucial not to remove the SD card while NowSignage is actively running on your BrightSign device.
-
Method 2 - BSN.cloud:

⚠️ Note: The following guidance assumes that you have set up a BS cloud account and registered your device.
Please consult with BrightSign support should you require any account setup support — https://docs.brightsign.biz/
Installation Steps:
For Series 3, 4, 5, and 6 players, install the unified app via BSN.cloud using the App URL method and enter the URL below:
https://cdn.nowsignage.com/ap-southeast-1/brightsign/5.3.41/autorun.zip
Once the app has been deployed & installed onto the player, load the PIN as follows:
- Open a text editor on your computer:
- Windows: open Notepad — click Start Menu and type "Notepad" in the Start Menu search box.
- Mac OS: open TextEdit — press Command + Space and type "TextEdit". Once TextEdit opens, click "Format" on the menu bar and then click "Make Plain Text".
- Enter the screen PIN found in your NowSignage account. Save the file as pin.txt.
- In BSN.cloud, click the cog icon next to your player to remotely access it.
- Click into the SD tab and upload the pin.txt file to the SD card of your player.
- (Optional) Upload a config.json file to the SD card if you wish to amend any settings.
- Once successfully uploaded, click into the Control tab and then Reboot your player.
- Your player will reboot, automatically launch NowSignage, and your PIN from the pin.txt file will auto-load and start displaying your scheduled content.
