How To Set Up Email Alerts For Offline Screens

Receive email notifications when your screen(s) go offline

Receive email notifications when your screen(s) go offline to stay informed about the status of your digital signage displays. This feature is essential for maintaining consistent visibility of your content to your audience. Setting up email notifications alerts you quickly if any screens go offline, enabling immediate action to resolve issues. This proactive approach reduces downtime and improves the effectiveness of your digital signage network, ensuring consistent and reliable messaging to your audience.

 

How to Set Up Email Notifications for Offline Screens in NowSignage

This guide will walk you through configuring the Notification Centre in NowSignage to receive email alerts when screens go offline.

 

Step 1.

Activating the Notification Centre App:

  • Once logged into your NowSignage account, begin by going to the 'Apps' area of the platform:

  • From the 'Available Apps' menu, select the 'Notification Centre' App

  • Click 'Install App' to add to your account.

Step 2: Configure the Notification Settings.

  • Click +Add Notification Group.

1. Name Your Notification Group

  • In the Name field, enter a descriptive name for your notification setup (e.g., “Manchester Screens”).

2. Set the Initial Offline Threshold

  • In the Initial threshold (minutes) field, enter the number of minutes a screen must be offline before an email notification is sent.

3. Set the Subsequent Offline Threshold (Optional)

  • In the Subsequent threshold (minutes) field, enter the frequency (in minutes) for follow-up notifications if the screen remains offline.

4. Add Email Recipients

  • In the Email notification to field, enter the email addresses that should receive alerts.
  • Press Enter after each email address to confirm.

 

Step 3: Define Notification Timing

1. Select Active Days

  • Choose the days when notifications should be active by clicking on the relevant buttons (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun).

2. Set Notification Time Window

  • Set the Time (from) and Time (to) fields to specify the hours during which notifications should be sent.

Step 4: Enable Notification Features

1. Activate Notification Group (Optional)

  • Toggle the “Is notification group active?” switch to enable the notification group.

2. Enable Subsequent Notifications (Optional)

  • Toggle the “Send subsequent notifications?” switch if you want to receive multiple alerts for persistent offline screens.

3. Apply to All Screens (Optional)

  • If you want this notification to apply to all screens in the project, toggle the “Apply to all screens” switch.

 

Step 5: Select Screens for Monitoring

1. In the Available Screens section, search or browse for screens to monitor.

2. Click on the screens you want to include.

3. Use the Select All button if you want to monitor all available screens.

4. The selected screens will appear in the Selected Screens section.

 

Step 6: Save Your Notification Settings

1. Review all settings to ensure they are correct.

2. Click Save to activate the notification settings.

Once completed, NowSignage will monitor your screens and send email alerts when any selected screen goes offline based on your configured thresholds.



Upon activation, you will receive an email notification similar to the example provided below:

Please note: All email alerts will come from noreply@nowsignage.com. If you do not receive them, please check your email firewall to ensure it allows traffic from this address.

Troubleshooting / FAQ

Q. Are there any logs of screen connections you can download?

A. No. The notification app is the only available method of monitoring and viewing the screen statuses.
