NowSignage BrightSign Series 5 Configuration Generator User Guide

This tool allows you to pre-configure the following options on the BrightSign Series 5 player by generating a JSON file that can be deployed to the device.

Access the Configuration Generator

• Open your web browser and navigate to the following BrightSign Configuration Generator URL: - https://brightsign-config.nowsignage.com/

Complete the Configuration Form

• Complete the form sections to configure your player's specifications.

 

Step 1: Display Configuration

This section configures the Series 5 model, display outputs, and audio settings.

1. BrightSign Series: Select Series 5 from the dropdown.

2. Device Model: Select your specific BrightSign Series 5 device model from the dropdown.

3. HDMI Outputs (1, 2, 3, 4): For each HDMI port you are using:

   • Check Enable.

   • Select the desired Display Resolution (e.g., 1920x1080@60p).

   • Check Enable Audio if you require sound.

   • Select the Audio Output source (HDMI, USB, SPDIF, or Analog).

4. Display Layout: If you are using multiple active displays, select the appropriate Layout for your screen arrangement.

 

Step 2: Network Configuration

This section establishes how your BrightSign player will connect to the internet.

A. Ethernet Settings (Wired Connection)

1. Check Enable Ethernet.

2. Automatic IP (Recommended): Check Use DHCP (Automatic IP) to allow your network to automatically assign the IP address.

3. Manual IP: If you must use a static IP, uncheck Use DHCP, and manually enter the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway provided by your network administrator.

B. WiFi Settings (Wireless Connection)

1. Check Enable WiFi.

2. Enter the exact WiFi SSID (the name of your wireless network).

3. Enter the WiFi Password for your network.

 

Step 3: System Settings

1. Timezone: Select your geographic Timezone from the dropdown list to ensure accurate device scheduling when publishing content from the NowSignage CMS.

Generate and Download the Configuration

1. Review all settings to ensure they are correct.

2. Click the Generate Configuration button.

3. The resulting JSON code will appear in the "Generated Configuration" panel.

4. Click the Download JSON File button to save the file to your computer.

Finalising the Player Setup

• The downloaded file (e.g., config.json) is the configuration file for your player.

• Place this file in the root directory of a microSD card or USB drive.

• Insert the storage device into your BrightSign Series 5 player. The player will automatically apply the settings (display, network, and time zone) upon boot up.
