Our hardware-agnostic NowSignage application can be easily installed on various compatible media players and System-on-Chip (SoC) displays while ensuring optimal performance.
- IMPORTANT INFORMATION: - This guide is ONLY to be used for accounts hosted on the NowSignage Middle East (ME) platform.
- To confirm if your account is hosted on our ME platform. Please review the URL when you access your NowSignage account - For Middle East platform the URL will be- https://secure.me-central-1.nowsignage.com/profiles
Required Network Access for NowSignage (ME Server)
Once the NowSignage application is installed on a compatible device, it must access various endpoints and URLs to retrieve and display digital signage content. To facilitate this, ensure that outbound routes are available to the following domains:
- <api.me-central-1.nowsignage.com> - Used for communication between the NowSignage application and our cloud platform, including authentication, content scheduling, and device status updates.
- <media.me-central-1.nowsignage.com> - Hosts and delivers media content such as images and videos for playback on digital signage devices.
- <pop.me-central-1.nowsignage.com> - (if using Proof of Play): Used to report playback data for Proof of Play functionality.
- <cloudfront-media.me-central-1.nowsignage.com> (if using Samsung Tizen displays): A CDN endpoint required for optimised media delivery on Samsung Tizen displays.
Note: All communication between the NowSignage application and these domains is conducted via secure HTTPS connections (SSL/TLS) over port 443.
WebSocket Connection for Content Triggers and Screen Sync
For accessing content triggers or screen sync features, ensure that the WebSocket protocol endpoint is whitelisted:
<wss://hzu0g87zc0.execute-api.me-west1.amazonaws.com/production>
This WebSocket endpoint is required for real-time updates and inter-device communication.
AWS IP Ranges & URL Whitelisting
The domains listed above resolve to AWS-hosted services, and AWS regularly updates its IP address ranges. To ensure seamless communication, rather than whitelisting static IPs, we strongly recommend whitelisting the above URLs. This guarantees that as AWS updates its IP allocations, the NowSignage application remains operational without requiring additional network configuration changes.
The current AWS IP Ranges can be reviewed at: AWS IP Ranges JSON. Clients should refer specifically to the me-central-1 region to identify any changes that might impact connectivity.
Network Bandwidth Requirements
NowSignage is designed to be data-efficient by automatically compressing file sizes for images and videos. Content is only played once fully downloaded, minimising the need for constant data streaming and reducing overall bandwidth consumption.
- Minimum recommended network speed: 5 Mbps download speed per device
- For live streaming IPTV or real-time dashboards: A stronger and more stable connection is advised
If a digital signage device is configured to connect via a proxy server for security reasons, NowSignage does not block proxy access to its CDN, ensuring continued functionality.
Troubleshooting Network Connectivity Issues
If experiencing network-related issues with NowSignage, please review the following:
- Verify that all required URLs are whitelisted in the firewall and network security policies.
- Monitor network logs for any blocked IP addresses.
- Cross-reference blocked IPs with the AWS IP Ranges JSON:
(AWS IP Ranges JSON) to determine if they are related to NowSignage services.
